Viral sensation Adam UIanicki left quite an impression with his original sound for “Some Say” on TikTok in 2021 before his transition, but then all of a sudden Adam went quiet and recently came out as a transgender man.

“I always knew there was something not quite right in my life,” recalls Adam, who was assigned female at birth but identifies as male for most of his life. „When I heard the lyrics and especially the line ‚Some say you will love me one day‘, it immediately did something to me. I struggled a lot with self-love – even more so then than now.“

As Adam’s version of „Some Say“ goes viral, he decides to go on hormone therapy to start his transition. „For a long time I didn’t know how my voice would react to the hormones,“ Adam recalls. „For many trans people, their own voice before the transition is a blatant trigger point. But my singing voice never bothered me – on the contrary, I found it really beautiful because I didn’t identify with it. It felt like someone else was singing at that moment. That’s why I was so afraid of losing that voice through the transition.“

In fact Adam’s body responded to the hormone therapy in no time and his singing voice soon changed. “On one hand, I was really happy. At the same time, there was also this fear of not being able to let out these feelings that are inside me. I was always able to process that through singing. I’m still getting used to and identifying with my new singing voice.”
